Portfolio Responsibilities

As Minister for Small Business, Independent Contractors and the Service Economy, Craig oversees a portfolio focussed on strengthening the performance and competitive advantage of those sectors in Australia.

As Minister Assisting the Finance Minister on Deregulation, Craig works closely with the Hon Lindsay Tanner MP to reduce business compliance costs, boost productivity and create a seamless national economy by simplifying and streamlining regulation which operates across Australia.

Through the Council of Australian Governments, he and Minister Tanner are working on 27 different areas of regulatory reform from creating a national business names register and national Australian consumer laws, to making it easier for businesses to deal with government through the standard business reporting initiative.

As Minister for Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs, Craig is responsible for formulating, implementing, and administering competition and consumer policy, including consultative arrangements with the States and industry bodies.  This includes responsibility for matters relating to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
